THE KING OF CRABWALK: 1,000 Horsepower GMC Hummer EV Edition 1

The GMC Hummer has come a long way, transitioning from what was once a notorious gas guzzler to arguably one of the most eco-conscious vehicles on the road today given its all-electric platform.

The team at GMC seamlessly brought this truck into the future while paying homage to its rugged off-road roots by equipping it with several off-road-focused features including a four-wheel steering system with a CrabWalk mode capable of turning all four wheels 10-degrees in the same direction.

Picture this: you’re approaching the Continental Divide on Imogene Pass in Telluride, Colorado. The trail is tight, and not taking it head-on might be the best option. Flip the switch, turn the wheel, engage those electric motors and you’ve just conquered one of the most famous 4×4 trails in the U.S. — sideways. The feature can also come in handy in everyday life to help you squeeze into that tight parking spot at the local grocery store.

Other highlights that show just how off-road capable the Hummer is include the UltraVision front and rear underbody cameras that allow the driver to navigate unseen obstacles. The rock rails offer the Hummer additional protection from said objects as well. It also features an adaptive air ride suspension system with Extract Mode that raises the truck up to 6-inches.

Power comes from three electric motors that draw electricity from a 212-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack that provides all four wheels with a GM-estimated 1,000 total horsepower and 11,500 ft/lbs of torque. According to GM, the Hummer sports a 350-mile range on a full charge and can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3-seconds.

Standard equipment on the 2022 Hummer EV Edition 1 includes an infinity roof with removable transparent sky panels; heated, ventilated and power-adjustable front seats; heated rear seats; heated steering wheel; and a power-adjustable steering column.

Drivers stay in control with the 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment and navigation system. The Hummer also features wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, along with Super Cruise compatibility.
